COP26: Glasgow
As COP26 gets underway in Glasgow world leaders meet at the summit to determine whether the world can comply with the Paris climate accord of 2015 which aims to limit global warming.
World leaders will focus on implementing ambitious targets and strive for the 1.5C global warming limit.
As wildfires continues to ravage parts of the world, sea levels rise, droughts become more common and we face a global health crisis, the 1.5C objective gets harder.
Some of the new pledges for COP26 is ending the use of coal and transitioning to electric vehicles to limit the impact on the global warming. In other areas, the fast fashion world is a major contributor to climate change. Fashion houses are starting to find ways to limit their carbon footprint as vintage and used goods become fashionable.
Some nations are reluctant to make these changes which is likely to slow down the world’s progress on reversing climate change.
The question is, will the summit expedite progress on climate change or have we reached the tipping point. Climate change impacts our natural environment which has knock on effect consequences for business, livelihoods and health and it will take not only world leaders to be on board with changes but business and consumers.
